What managed IT support is
Managed IT support is a different way of paying for IT. Rather than calling someone when something breaks and paying for their time, you pay a predictable monthly fee and we take responsibility for keeping your technology running. That changes the incentives: our job is to stop problems happening in the first place, not to bill for fixing them.
In practice, that means we look after your laptops and desktops, servers, network equipment, user accounts and business applications, and we are the people your team calls when they need help.
Who it is for
Managed IT support suits businesses that rely on technology every day but don't have, or don't want, a full IT department. Our clients are typically small and medium-sized businesses with anything from a handful of staff to a few hundred, including:
- Professional practices such as accountants, solicitors and financial advisers, where downtime is billable time lost and client data must be protected.
- Growing companies that have outgrown a "friend who's good with computers" and need structure, documentation and planning.
- Multi-site and hybrid businesses with staff in the office, at home and on the road, who need everyone to have the same tools and the same support.
- Businesses with an in-house IT person who would benefit from extra hands, specialist skills or out-of-hours cover.
What's included
Every managed IT agreement is tailored, but most include:
- Proactive monitoring. Our tools watch your servers, devices and network continuously and alert us to warning signs such as failing disks, full storage or missed backups.
- Patch management. Operating systems and key applications are kept up to date, which closes the security holes most attacks rely on.
- Antivirus and endpoint oversight. We make sure protection is installed, up to date and working on every device. For a deeper layer, see cyber security.
- Helpdesk support. Your team can call or email our own engineers for everyday issues, from passwords and printers to email and software problems.
- Remote support. Most fixes happen remotely within minutes of connecting, using secure remote support tools for Windows and Mac.
- On-site visits. When a job needs someone in person, an engineer comes to your premises.
- User management. New starters set up, leavers removed securely and permissions kept tidy.
- IT planning and advice. Regular reviews, a hardware replacement plan and honest advice on what's worth spending money on.
Support is available Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm, with out-of-hours cover available for contract customers.
How we deliver it
We start with an audit. We document your devices, accounts, network, software, licences and backups, identify the risks and quick wins, and agree priorities with you. If you are moving from another provider, we plan the handover with them so nothing is lost.
From there, we install our monitoring and support tools, fix the urgent issues and bring everything up to a consistent standard. Then we move into day-to-day support: monitoring, maintaining and helping your people, with regular reviews so your IT keeps pace with your business.
Everything is delivered by our in-house team, based at Centennial Park in Elstree. We support businesses across the UK remotely and visit sites across Hertfordshire, North London and beyond.
Why choose Seabeck for managed IT
- One provider for voice, data and IT. We can also look after your hosted phone system and business connectivity, so one team is responsible for everything that keeps you working.
- An in-house team. The engineers who answer your call are our own people, not a third-party helpdesk.
- Proactive by design. Monitoring, patching and backup checks are part of the service, not extras.
- Specialist knowledge. We host and support business applications such as SAP Business One and CCH Central, which few IT providers can.
- Straightforward advice. We explain things in plain English and recommend what you need, not what earns us the most.
Pricing
Managed IT support is priced per user per month, based on the level of cover you need. We quote after a short review of your users, devices and sites, so you only pay for the cover you need. Ask us for a quote tailored to your business.
